Getting from Changi Airport to Arab Street & Bugis: A Traveler’s Transport Guide

Landing at Changi Airport is usually the easy part — figuring out the best way into the city is where most first-time visitors pause. The good news is that getting from the airport to Arab Street and Bugis, right where MET A Space Pod is located, is simple once you know your options. Here’s how to make the trip smoothly, whether you’re watching your budget or just want to drop your bags as fast as possible.

From Changi Airport to Bugis

The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is the most reliable and budget-friendly way to reach us. From Changi Airport station, hop on the train and change at Tanah Merah onto the East-West Line towards the city — Bugis station is a direct run from there, and it’s also served by the Downtown Line. The whole journey takes roughly 40 to 45 minutes and costs only a few dollars. From Bugis station, it’s about a 10-minute walk through Kampong Glam to our doorstep.

If you’d rather skip the walk or you’re arriving late at night, a taxi or Grab from Changi to Arab Street takes about 20 to 25 minutes depending on traffic. It costs more than the MRT, but it’s a straightforward door-to-door option, especially useful with heavy luggage or after a long-haul flight.

Getting Around Once You’ve Arrived

Bugis MRT station is the interchange you’ll use most during your stay, connecting the East-West and Downtown lines to the rest of Singapore. From MET A Space Pod, most of Kampong Glam’s highlights — Haji Lane, Sultan Mosque, Bugis Street Market, and Arab Street’s textile and carpet shops — are within a comfortable 5 to 15-minute walk, so you often won’t need transport at all once you’re settled in.

For destinations further out, buses running along Victoria Street and Beach Road connect easily to Marina Bay, Chinatown, and Orchard Road, and the MRT network reaches almost every major attraction in under 30 minutes.

Money-Saving Transport Tips

Skip the single-trip paper tickets. Tap in and out with a contactless bank card, your phone’s contactless wallet, or an EZ-Link card picked up at any station — it works across the MRT and buses and automatically calculates the cheapest fare for your journey.

Ride-hailing apps are convenient but can surge in price during peak hours (roughly 7–9am and 6–8pm on weekdays). If you’re not in a rush, the MRT is almost always faster and cheaper during these windows. And once you’re in Kampong Glam itself, walking is often the quickest way to get around — the neighborhood’s one-way streets can slow down cars far more than they slow down pedestrians.

Plan your route with these basics in mind, and the trip from touchdown to check-in at MET A Space Pod becomes one less thing to think about.
